Chillums (Wood) - If there are chillums made of clay, glass, and stone, there certainly are ones made of wood as well. And like its counterparts, wood is quite easy to handle. Wood allows pipe makers to create chillums with sheer beauty and elegance through carving. Most of the wood chillums are made of ebony – a tree belonging to the genus Diospyros. This tree is very abundant in India and Sri Lanka. And if the history of chillums is traced, you will discover it is the Indians that actually created these pipes. And before, they only use chillums that are made of clay, cow’s horn, or ebony. The other materials used in making them nowadays, such as glass and stone, were unheard of before. So in essence, you’ll get a taste of history if you own a wood chillum. And so today, the practice of creating chillums out of ebony continues. We actually have 50 items up for sale, with varying degrees of craftsmanship. All designs are carved and polished to perfection. And the large pieces are perfect for party smoking. The price is mostly dependent on the complexity of the design, but there is not one piece that is priced over $50. Most are actually available for less than $10.
